Mad cop.

in: General

I go to great length to keep everything in this blog related to Forex trading, or just trading in general. Try not to cover any controversial topics and keep my personal opinions on everything outside of trading to minimum. This time, however, I’m making an exception. Surveillance tape released recently, shows a cop beating on small, teenage girl inside a holding cell of a police station. Video is disgusting and I’m not going to embed it here, but if by some twist you have not seen it, link is provided.

What makes this case of additional interest to me, is the fact that it happened locally. Not next door, but within metropolitan area. At any rate, I was able to get some additional information about the police hero. Judge for yourselves.
Cop who so happily punches and kicks 15 year old girl is Paul Schene, 31, an 8 year veteran of King County Sheriff’s Office. He is 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 195 pounds, or about twice the size of the girl he used for a punching bag. The other deputy in the video is one Travis Brunner. Officer Schene has been on administrative leave since December. This cop has been spending a lot of time on leave in his career, because it is not the first time he’s been in the news. In  2006 he shot and killed an individual after a traffic stop. Turned out that the victim was a mentally ill man. Schene fired 11(!) times. Talk about an overkill. While on leave after that incident, he was caught drunk driving and received deferred prosecution. To make it more interesting, 2006 shooting was a second shooting he was involved in. Unfortunately, I have been unable to uncover details of the previous one. He has quite a history
That entire precinct – King County Precinct 4, has reputation for brutality. This is forth case of serious abuse of force from there in last couple of years. Legal costs of defending cops involved is way over $300,000. In spite of raised awareness and media coverage, not much seems to be changing there.
Paul Schene pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor assault charges for beating the girl. The way things are going in that neck of the woods, he will probably spend few more months on paid leave and return to work. Perhaps next time we hear about him he will be pummeling somebody in a wheelchair, or some other shit like this. Who knows?

I’m little surprised to find this on your blog. So not your style…It is local for you, though. Anyways, this was a vid of the day on youtube and everywhere else. Not pretty.

Maxim is right, story of the day. I have not seen that many angry comments about one subject in a long time. It sounds like the cop is already prosecited for it, the courts can handle this matter, rather than some vigilante justice that chat rooms are full of. How did the video ever get leaked?

Heather, video was not “leaked”. It was released by judge on request of media folks.
